Garden BBQ areas, fireplaces and outdoor kitchens
One built place for cooking and gathering, instead of a set of furniture.
One whole
A barbecue area built as a single piece
A barbecue area can be a set of garden furniture or one coherent place that becomes the heart of the garden. We build it as a whole: grill enclosures and cabinets carved in concrete as rocks with a natural texture, a pergola in the form of trunks and boughs with built-in lighting, and a table with a sculptural base.
That is how we made the barbecue area in the garden of a terraced house in Gothenburg. It started with an ordinary, empty garden. We prepared the ground and foundations, then built the complete area, and finished it with painting and patina. It shows that a sculptural barbecue area does not need a large property: it needs a well-thought-out layout where every element has a purpose, from grill and worktop to seating, shade and light.

Tied to the house
Matched to what is already there
The area can be tied in with the façade, terrace, paths, low walls or planters in the same stone, so the garden looks designed from the start rather than added to piece by piece. A rock-style enclosure or a trunk pergola also stays part of the landscape when the grill is not in use, so form deserves as much thought as function.
Private projects are published only with the owner’s consent, and on request we work in complete confidentiality.

What to decide before the first sketch
The ground matters as much as the finish.
How you will use it
How many people usually sit at the table, whether you cook on a grill, in an oven or over a fire pit, and whether it should work in the evening. Worktops, cabinets, shade and lighting follow from this.
Ground and foundations
A structure on poorly prepared ground can crack regardless of the finish.
Water and frost
A garden works in water and frost, so we discuss drainage and run-off, and access to services, on every project.
Out of season
How the area looks when it is not in use.
Pergola
Trunks and branches that carry a load
We build trunk-and-branch pergolas with the same systems as our artificial trees. Load-bearing capacity comes from a steel structure and reinforcement, while bark, growth rings, cracks and knots are sculpted by hand. Colour is built in layers: a base coat, glazes, dry-brushing and patina.
A pergola like this gives shade and a frame for lighting where a real tree would not grow or survive. Lighting built into the branches keeps the area usable after dark. Cabling should be planned before sculpting so it remains accessible for inspection.
Fireplaces and ovens
Stone surrounds for fire, indoors and out
We make surrounds for fireplaces, stoves and fire pits, garden ovens with stone cladding, and complete outdoor kitchens under a shelter, with oven, worktops, cabinets and a fire pit in one coherent style. Every form is bespoke, matched to the interior, façade and the way it will be used.
The cladding is carved by hand on site with the technique we use on façades: rubble stone, brick, old timber or another texture. The surround does not look like a set of tiles but like a single built structure, and colour and patina can be matched to the rest of the interior or garden. It combines well with a gazebo, paths and a terrace in the same stone.
To get started, photos of the site, approximate dimensions and a description of how you want to use the fireplace or kitchen are enough.

Who does what: fireplace inserts, flues, stoves, ovens and their sign-off are handled by qualified stove fitters and installers. We design and build the decorative layer and choose materials for the temperature and conditions at that location. We agree this before work begins, so the surround does not compromise safety or maintenance access. The same applies to the electrical installation for lighting built into a pergola or rock.
Garden furniture
Benches, pergolas, planters, stone seating
The same hands build the rest of the garden: benches, pergolas and gazebos, flower beds and planters, planting screens, fire pits and campfire areas, and stone furniture such as sculptural tables, seating and benches. We design urban and landscape elements to fit their surroundings, from a single planter to a complete set of public-space features.
Rock-style enclosures follow the logic of artificial rockwork in a park: a stable base, reinforcement, a hand-sculpted surface and protection for outdoor conditions. Worktops should be easy to clean, and areas near the fire made of materials chosen for the temperature.

Questions and answers
Can you build the grill or oven itself?
We design and build the enclosures and the decorative layer. Inserts, flues, ovens and their sign-off are handled by qualified stove fitters and installers, with whom we agree the scope before work starts.
Will a concrete barbecue area survive the winter?
We choose materials, coatings and foundations for outdoor conditions, but no outdoor piece is completely maintenance-free. Plan periodic inspections and protection from water.
What do you need to prepare a proposal?
Photos of the site, approximate dimensions and a description of how you want to use the area. We can work discreetly and, on request, under an NDA.
