Agro-estate · Białowieża Forest, Belarus
Stone stairs, floors & terraces
An agro-estate on the edge of the Białowieża Forest: a concrete spiral stair turned into weathered sandstone, stone-clad planter walls and outdoor stairs and terraces.
Finished
Every tread and riser cast and textured as weathered sandstone, coloured layer by layer in honey, ochre and grey, then sealed for daily use. Under the forged oak-leaf railing the stair reads as one carved stone spiral.
During the work
The concrete flight was built up and modelled by hand: stone texture pressed into the fresh layer, cracks and edges cut, then colour and a protective glaze. The railing stays wrapped in film until the stone is finished.
Entrance steps
A wide two-flight stair to the front door: massive slab-like treads with rough-split edges, cracks and a weathered surface in grey, olive and ochre — the same stone language as the terrace floor and the flagstone walls.
Terrace floor in flagstone
Under the long covered terrace the concrete slab became a floor of large irregular flagstones: each slab cut, textured and coloured on the spot in honey, rust and slate tones, with a raised stone kerb along the edge and around the pillars. The walls are clad in matching hand-made flagstone.
The estate
The guest house at the agro-estate on the edge of the Białowieża Forest, and the entrance stairs while still in raw concrete.
