A cottage of old rubble stone

Every wall of a small house dressed in hand-made rubble stone: hundreds of rounded stones, each modelled and coloured on the wall, with a heavier stone plinth at the base.

The facade

No moulds and no panels: the stones are drawn and textured one by one in fresh mortar, then coloured individually in grey, rust, ochre and violet tones, with light joints like old lime mortar. Low down, larger rounded stones form the plinth, as on an old country house.
