Café Octopus
A rock-faced bar counter and three “old oak” columns with sea-creature reliefs — an octopus, a mermaid and a seahorse — for a café by the Baltic.
The bar counter
A massive block of slate-grey rock with diagonal strata, split by two old timber posts. Every crack and layer is modelled by hand; the colour is built up in glazes so the stone looks quarried, not painted.
Old timber columns with reliefs
The concrete columns of the hall became weathered oak posts with a diagonal brace, cracks, knots and worn grain. Each post carries a hand-modelled sea creature: an octopus, a mermaid and a seahorse.
